Have you ever been on a vacation and while you're exploring the area you discover a hotel or hotel(s) that you wish you were staying at instead? This has happened to me a few times and I know how frustrating it can be, especially when you learn you're paying more for your current hotel. I typically go back to my guidebook and of course the cooler, smaller, and less expensive hotel is not listed. Don't let this happen to you, especially not on your honeymoon.
I've always wondered about how the people that stay at these hotels actually find out about them. Of course there is TripAdvisor, Travelocity, Hotels.com, etc., but I'm talking about hotels in unique places or that cater to a crowd that doesn't search for hotels on these sites. Sometimes it seems there is a completely separate hotel network that I'm missing out on.
Last month I started emailing friends and family hoping to get some resources. After a week I received a couple of detailed emails. Check out the list below and if you feel that I missed a good one, I'd welcome your feedback.
