Since the two of us aren't on the traditional life path of college, marriage, kids/careers, we don't really have the traditional needs in a wedding registry. We already have ahome together and aren't really at the point that we know where we will end up settling. Being students and working our way along we aren't in any place to start collecting china and silver. The one thing we are in desperate need of is a one-of-a-kind getaway. An escape from the droll exisitence of the working college student. That's why we've come up with this "honeymoon registry". Instead of helping us fill our home with things that may not last until we truly start our future home, help us have the chance to do something we might not ever get the chance to do again.
So Croatia it is. There is amazing European architecture, historic ruins, beautiful beaches and islands near enough to ferry out to for day trips. We can't wait for this experience! The fresh seafood, daily bike trips and outstanding night life when we are in the big city... We know that it will be amazing.
Below is a breakdown of our plans and the ways that you can help us start our marriage with this awesome celebration.
We love you all and can't wait to see you for the ceremony!
Love,
Kate and Boyd
We're going to Split, Bol and Zagreb: Croatia!
The largest tourist region in Dalmatia is the part around Split, its largest city, a region which covers only one county, the County of Split-Dalmatia. This is the center and the true heart of Dalmatia, where the majority of its inhabitants live, where the main Dalmatian islands are located, where the beaches are the most beautiful. Here is where most of the precious cultural monuments are to be found as well as two of a total of five Croatian localities included in the UNESCO List of World Heritage sites: the historical nucleus of Split, with Diocletian's Palace, and the historical city of Trogir. If Dalmatia is indeed, as many say, the true, primeval Mediterranean, then its central part around Split is, in itself, the heart of the entire Mediterranean.
After the first part of our trip in Split we will hop a ferry out to the Islands and see the city of Bol where there is amazing fresh seafood and, while it is a little touristy, the beaches are picture perfect. The ferry ride out there and back only takes a few hours and the scenery from the boat and the fresh air and the island beaches make it an amazing place to see.
After the islands we will take another day trip out to Zagreb, located in the central, northern part of the country. The Croatian train lines are fantastic and not only will we be able to get out there in a day we will get to see the country on our way. The last couple of days we will admire the bustling city of Zagreb, known as the 9th "most polite" city in the world, before flying home again to tell the story.
