Hi everyone,
Thanks for visiting our honeymoon registry. We've added items to this list that will either help us get to and from Fiji (24 hours of travel time each way!) or activities that are targeted towards adventure, romance, and relaxation. As corny as it sounds, my goal in planning this trip was to give to Natalie that made-for-TV romantic getaway made famous by shows like the Bachelor, without the cameras, cat fights, and witty commentary by Chris Harrison, of course. Below you'll find out a little about our trip and the places we plan to visit.
We will be starting our journey in Seattle on Friday, July 30 and flying to Nadi, Fiji via San Francisco and Honolulu. We have an eight hour layover in Honolulu, so we are hoping to visit Pearl Harbor and maybe catch some quick beach time before our final leg. When we arrive in Nadi, we will be whisked quickly away by car meet the Yasawa Flyer catamaran, our passage to Viwa Island, one of the most remote islands in Fiji. We picked Viwa Island Resort as our first stop because it is known for its privacy (only 11 couples in the whole resort), beautiful white sandy beach, and Fijian hospitality. Here we plan to relax, enjoy our first week away from the mainland, and truly unplug - my laptop has been forbidden. Towards the end of the week, we are hoping to visit the village school in Naibalebale and maybe complete our first SCUBA dive as part of our dive certification.
After Viwa, our next stop is at Hideaway Resort on the Coral Coast for four nights. We picked this area because it is near the towns of Sigatoka and Pacific Harbor, known for their access to adventure activities. After a week of relaxing, we figured it'd be time to ride some horses, swim with some sharks, and explore some caves.
Our final leg of the trip will take us to LikuLiku Lagoon for three nights of luxury. LikuLiku is the only resort in Fiji which has the overwater bungalows most associated with places like Bora Bora. Visiting here was not in the original plans but we decided make a change before our final booking because of the rave reviews of the accommodations, food, and romance (and let's not kid ourselves, the marketers on reality tv do a fine job too).
We have been planning this trip for over a year and are so excited to experience a part of the world neither of us had ever dreamed of visiting. We will be sure to take lots of pictures to document our journey and will return with stories of adventure, culture, and intrigue, and hopefully that final rose. More to come....
