1. Explore Dublin

You'll need more than a day to fully explore Ireland's capital city, which is packed with incredible historic sites, leafy parks, cobblestone streets, and unique neighborhoods.

Start by visiting the the Temple Bar neighborhood, home to narrow alleyways and quaint cobblestone streets. This lively area in central Dublin is also packed with authentic pubs and restaurants.

Next, stroll around Trinity College, a historic university home to gorgeous ivy-covered buildings, the magnificent Trinity College Library, and the Book of Kells, easily one of Ireland's greatest treasures.

Cap your day by seeing a performance at Abbey Theatre, considered the National Theatre of Ireland.

2. Visit Postcard-Perfect Towns and Seaside Villages

The Emerald Isle is packed with gorgeous towns and villages. Some feature beautiful seaside locations while others stand out with their pastel buildings and winding streets.

We're particularly fond of the small town of Dingle, with its lively marina, colorful homes, and breathtaking scenery (be sure to take a scenic ride on Slea Head Drive).

Over in County Cork, the seaside village of Kinsale is another can't-miss destination. This dreamy town has everything a honeymooner could want -- bright buildings, unique shops, a beautiful harbor, historic sites galore, and fantastic food.

3. Enjoy the Ambiance of Traditional Irish Pubs

Ireland is famous for its traditional pubs, vibrant, colorful places filled with friendly locals, a spirited atmosphere, warm ambiance, and terrific music.

For a most authentic experience, be sure to visit the bars in Kilkenny, Cork, Galway, and - of course - The Temple Bar in downtown Dublin. For a traditional pub with excellent local music, look no further than De Barra's Folk Club in Cork.

Ireland is renowned for its impressive lineup of castles, cathedrals, and monasteries. From Blarney Castle to Ballynahinch Castle to Kilkenny Castle, don't miss out on exploring some of the country's finest and most historic sites.

Cahir Castle, one of Ireland's largest and best preserved castles, is a TJ favorite. Meanwhile, Dublin boasts a number of phenomenal sites, including St. Patrick's Cathedral, Christ Church Cathedral, and Dublin Castle.

5. Embrace the Great Outdoors

From the rolling green hills in County Wicklow to the rugged, steep cliffs found along the coastline (the Cliffs of Moher are must-see), the many stunning landscapes of Ireland are truly incredible.

One of our favorite regions for exploring Ireland is Killarney. The area is home to Killarney National Park and the country's highest mountain range, making it the perfect destination for outdoorsy couples.

The Killarney region also offers majestic mountains, pristine lakes, waterfalls, lush forest, and diverse wildlife. Visitors can easily explore via car, hiking, biking, and boating, or even take horse-drawn carriage rides through the mountains, including the breathtaking Gap of Dunloe.
