Hello Family and Friends -
For those of you that know us, which if you're visiting this site, you probably do, you already understand that there are a few things that we - Rich and Catherine - have in common. These things are not unique or specific to us by any means, but, we feel quite strongly that we do them well, and they have contributed to many awesome times in our 8-year relationship. The list of our commonalities is as follows:
1) Eat good food
2) Drink good drinks
3) Travel to awesome places
It is the third item on this list that has landed you on this site.
We've been fortunate enough during our lives to have opportunities to travel to places across the globe. Only recently in 2010 did we have the chance to take our first BIG trip together - Paris and Rome. It was 10 days of non-stop action - and when we realized we still liked each other at the end of it, we decided another epic trip was something we should do again.
So, for our upcoming wedding, we've decided to register for our honeymoon. What this means is that, rather than purchasing a gift item from a traditional registry, you may decide to help us enjoy our honeymoon by contributing to anything from airfare, to a hotel stay, to an elephant ride (more on that below).
Due to the fact that Rich is in school (yes, again) getting very smart until May 2013, we will postpone our honeymoon until after his graduation and make it a trip for the ages. It will be a fantastic way to celebrate our first anniversary.
We feel very fortunate to have such great friends and family - and we are looking forward to kicking off the greatest trip of all this May with all of you.
Much Love,
Catherine + Rich
We're going to Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Bali!
We are headed to Asia! Between the two of us, we've hit a few continents. We'll explore this one together.
Since we're waiting a year before we take a honeymoon, we have a long time to plan. But, we do have a few things already on our itinerary.
We'll start on the east coast and fly westwards to Tokyo, with a quick stop in San Francisco to break up the long trip, to hang with Molly Larkin, and to give Rich a last opportunity to have an American burger for a few weeks.
Once in Tokyo, we'll see the sights and try this food they're calling 'sushi'. We hear it's delicious.
From there, we plan to visit Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia. We'll ride some elephants in Chiang Mai, take an epic boat ride at Ha Long Bay, and see what all the fuss is about at Angkor Wat, among other things.
To end our tour, we'll spend some time at a place that's been called the most beautiful place on earth - Bali - where Rich will test out some waves and Catherine will look for Balinese fortune-teller Ketut Liyer. He seemed like a pretty cool dude in Eat Pray Love....
This is a work in progress which will evolve as we continue to plan, so please check back for updates.
