hello!

As many of you have probably surmised, our honeymoon will no longer be taking place in Egypt as originally planned. We were very excited to explore this ancient country, but we will just have to console ourselves with our original fantasy honeymoon: a safari in Kenya!

The details are still in the works since April/May is not a very good time of year to visit Kenya, but we are looking at dates in either June or August. We will be using the same tour company we booked our Egypt trip with, so we won't lose any of the money we've invested so far. And we'll be on safari! We'd say there's quite a silver lining to this cloud.

Thanks in advance for your gift...we think you're all the lion's roar! (ha)

xoxo

We're going to Nairobi, Samburu, Aberdare & Masai Mara!

Lions and tigers and bears...OH MY!
Well, maybe no bears, but we hope to see lions and tigers and zebra, elephants, wildebeest, rhinos, giraffes....in other words, the trip of a lifetime!

We will be signing up for an organized tour since planning our own wedding is full time work enough, but we have broken out individual costs as much as possible to help you help us make it happen.

We are currently considering 2 different trips; which one we choose will depend on whether we can make the timing work. The forerunner at the moment is Kenya, though we are hoping to work a trip to Tanzania in as well.

Our 10 day, multi location trip will include some of the best game reserves in Kenya: Aberdare National Park, Samburu Game Reserve, Lake Nakuru National Park (known for the millions of flamingos that gather on the lake), and Masai Mara.

The timing of our trip, whether June or August, coincides with the great migration of the zebras and wildebeests from the Serengeti. And being winter (since Kenya is south of the equator), it's prime animal viewing time since water is more scarce and the animals tend to congregate at water sources, rather than hiding in the bush.

We will end our trip in Nairobi where we will visit the Karen Blixen museum (Out of Africa author) and a giraffe sanctuary. Then it's back to the states, and back to reality...and a mean case of jet lag, we're sure!
