After placing 3rd in the 2009 WFTDA Championship tournament, we've been working our shiny asses off to get back there--and this year, we've made it!
With this opportunity ahead of us, the team is keeping up the momentum with our furious preparation for the 2012 WFTDA Championships this November.
Entering as the second seed in the west, The Mile High Club will play Charm City Rollergirls in the very first game of the tournament on November 2nd. The winner of that will go on to play the Windy City Rollers on November 3rd, and if we can repeat our past victories over Charm City and Windy City, you will see the Mile High Club take on reigning WFTDA Champions, Gotham Girls Roller Derby, that evening. On Sunday, November 4th, the winner will go on to play for the Hydra, and the losing team will play for 3rd place.
Denver Roller Dolls is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, skater-run organization. The skaters pay to play, with their blood, sweat and tears. Unfortunately, hotels and airlines don't appear to accept those forms of currency.
The skaters work hard to compete at this level, and we want to ensure they can focus on their training in the few weeks that remain before the tournament. To take "fundraising" off their list of concerns, please consider helping them fly, rest, eat and bask in victory!
UPDATE: We did it! We made it back to the winners circle, placing 3rd at Grits & Glory, losing only to the reigning champs, Gotham Girls Roller Derby. We are so proud of our bronze medals. We showed the world how far teamwork and dedication can take you. Thank you so much to everybody who has supported the Mile High Club!
We're still working on meeting our fundraising goal. Thanks everybody for your continued support and generosity.
We're going to Atlanta, GA!
