Thank you for visiting our South Africa honeymoon registry!
One of the many things that Sean and I have in common is our love for seeing and experiencing different places around the globe. So naturally, we started discussing our honeymoon the night we were engaged--and naturally, we were on a trip when we got engaged. See a theme here?
By the end of that trip, we had decided on South Africa. We wanted a place that had it all--interesting cultural centers, beautiful beaches, wine, and just a little something unique (maybe a safari?!). We also preferred to visit a location to which neither of us had been. South Africa fit the bill.
And then the planning began...
When we found out about Traveler's Joy, we thought, "What a great idea." Instead of buying a toaster or a blender (gifts for which we are still registering and gifts we will greatly appreciate and use all of the time), our friends and family could have the extra choice of contributing to what will hopefully be one of the greatest experiences of our lives. If nothing else, you can see exactly what we are doing during our ten days in South Africa and follow along!
So thank you so much for visiting our website, and thank you so much for being the wonderful people you are. We are very fortunate to have you in our lives.
We're going to South Africa!
We embark on our journey to South Africa on Monday, September 24 at 6:10 am. Twenty-five hours, 3 stops, and a few airplane meals later, we arrive in Cape Town, where we will immediately jump into our rental car (Sean has to learn how to drive on the left side of the road) and head out to the Cape Town winelands.
After a day and night of exploring the winelands and remedying our jet lag with bottles of vino, we will make the short drive to our Airbnb.com rental in Cape Town. We have four days to explore the tip of Africa, visit its beaches, swim with the sharks (in a cage, of course), tour Robben Island, and visit some of the world's best culinary treasures before we jump on our nonstop flight to Durban.
Sean and I will spend 2 days visiting Africa's "Golden Mile" (of beaches) before entering the last chapter of our journey--a three day safari at Thanda Private Game Reserve. Just take one look at the Honeymoon "tent" in which we are staying, and you will fully and immediately comprehend our excitement.
On Friday, October 5, we get on a plane back home. Yes, we will be sad to leave the (hopefully) honeymoon adventure of a lifetime, but we will be just as happy to get home and share our pictures and stories with all of you.
