Jason & Jessi

March 12, 2022

Hi everyone!

First off, we'd like to say that your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift we could ask for. The time, effort, and expense of traveling to be with us is something we appreciate deep down in our hearts, and we are so thrilled to celebrate this happy occasion with you.

We're also blessed to have a lot of the "essential" home items a newly engaged couple needs, and we truly just hope you can spend the day with us on March 12. But if you have a burning desire to send a gift our way, it would be great if you could contribute to our honeymoon.

Going on adventures around the world has been important to both of us throughout our lives, and we're excited to take on those adventures together now. The first such adventure in our newly minted marriage will be to Sweden! We'll do our best to document our experience and share it along the way.

Thanks again and we can't wait to see you at the wedding - or earlier!

We're going to Swedish Lapland!

We're off to the Swedish arctic, where it's said there are 200 words for snow. We'll see the Northern Lights, traveling by skis and snowmobiles and dogsleds. We'll grab drinks at a bar made of ice, sleep in a treehouse, feed reindeer, and try to keep all our appendages intact by frequenting the saunas. Skål!

SWEDISH FIKA - Roughly translated, fika means "drinking coffee, munching sweet treats and chatting." You know Jessi won't last long without coffee, so we will be trying this tradition out daily.

COLD DRINKS AT A BAR MADE OF ICE - Each winter, passionate artists gather in Jukkasjäarvi to build a new rendition of the Icehotel and its Icebar. When the spring comes, the hotel is then left to melt and find its way back to nature.
Gift Fulfilled
VISIT TO A FLOATING SAUNA - We'll be taking a dip in Arctic Bath's open-air sauna and staying in their beautiful accommodations.
Gift Fulfilled
A NIGHT IN THE TREEHOTEL - Made up of seven treehouses, each totally different from one another, Treehotel gives guests the opportunity to sleep high above the ground with an incredible 360 degree forest view.
Gift Fulfilled
A DOGSLEDDING ADVENTURE - There is no scenario where Jason doesn't make dogsledding happen on this trip.

SEEING THE NORTHERN LIGHTS - Aurora Sky Station in Abisko National Park offers perhaps the world's best view of the Northern Lights. The unique climate of the area keeps the skies nearly always clear, and the light pollution is next to nothing.
Gift Fulfilled
SAMI CUISINE - The Sami people are the original inhabitants of the area, and their culinary traditions carry on today. Sami cuisine uses local meat and fish, foraged mushrooms, and fruits like cloudberries and lingonberries.

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING - The world's oldest pair of skis were found in Swedish Lapland. They're more than 5,000 years old, meaning people there have been skiing since before any pyramids were built in Egypt. I guess that means we should give it a go.

DINNER AT THE WORLD'S SMALLEST RESTAURANT - Maybe it's the world's smallest restaurant? Arctic Gourmet Cabin is nine square meters; you'll find two tables, four chairs, and one chef making fancy food from local staples.
Gift Fulfilled
ARCTIC CAR RENTAL - Don't worry, Swedish Lapland is so used to the Arctic climate that the roads are quite drivable, even though they look snowy and icy. And we need to get around!
