Hello friends and family,
Thank you all for visiting our wedding/honeymoon registry! This registry is unique to us because it gives us the opportunity to explore places in the world that we've always wanted to, thus introducing us to different cultures, cuisine, and fascinating history. We've always had a strong passion for travel and how it shapes our way of thinking. The experiences we encounter on this trip will produce memories that we'll share and reminisce about for a lifetime....
How this registry works is by contributing your wedding gift to one of the gift items we've created for our trip. Simply click "give" on an item of your interest and after the contribution is made, traveler's joy will send the gift amount to us for that particular activity, experience, or accommodation.
We appreciate all the support received in helping us have a wonderful wedding and honeymoon abroad! Thank you.
With love,
Jon and Rielle
We're going to Europe!
On June 9th, Rielle and I meet in NYC for our overnight IcelandAir flight to Reykjavik from JFK. In Iceland, we'll have a little longer than a 10 hour wait for our connecting flight to Milan, so we'll catch the bus and relax in the famous Blue Lagoon hot spring; one of Iceland's most notable destinations. Later that afternoon, Rielle and I will fly to Milan and stay overnight.
The next morning (Tuesday) we'll be headed to the U.S. Consulate in Milan to complete the final legal documents required for our wedding on Friday in Treviso. This is also where Rielle and I will meet our wedding planner's assistant to help us along in the documentation process. Once our documents are finalized that morning, Rielle and I will take one of the regional trains to Venice, which will be our home until Saturday June 15.
In Venice we will meet our wedding planner to make sure everything is in place for Friday. During those days in Venice, Rielle and I plan to meet up with friends and family who plan to make the trip to our wedding. Venice is a very romantic location, so Rielle and I hope to make the most of it and take time to enjoy strolling the canal sidewalks and floating down others all while sipping champagne and taking in the rich history....
Thursday night, Rielle will actually stay in Treviso overnight with her mother, while I'll be staying down in Venice 35 km's south. Our wedding is on Friday at noon at the Treviso town hall. Shortly after the service, Rielle and I will take pictures in Treviso and Venice followed by a very authentic Italian dinner with friends and family later that evening. Saturday Rielle and I will wake up officially husband and wife and say good bye to Venice as we'll catch an overnight train up to Kitzbuhel Austria, a place Rielle first visited as a teenager.
After arriving Kitzbuhel Sunday morning, Rielle and I will explore the small town and relax overnight in a local bed and breakfast before getting on another overnight train to Paris the next evening.
Waking up in Paris on Tuesday morning will be a feeling that Rielle and I are truly looking forward to. We will stay in Paris until Friday morning (June 21st). Rielle and I plan to get lost in what this beautiful city has to offer during our days there. With no real plan yet, we'll see and experience the famous sites such as the Eiffel tower, Musee du Louvre, Musee Picasso, Notre-Dame, etc....
Friday morning, Rielle and I will depart Paris for a two night layover back in Iceland before heading back to the states. Iceland's country side is vastly extensive with glacier's, lava fields, and hot springs. This combination will probably be a refreshing change from the hustle and bustle of cities; we look forward to the natural beauty of Iceland's landscape. Perhaps we'll even take another dip in the Blue Lagoon one afternoon.
Regretfully, Rielle and I will leave Iceland Sunday June 23rd for NYC. From New York, we will unfortunately part ways because we live in two different cities. I'll head back to Mobile to check out of my work and head west to San Diego for my new job, and Rielle will head back to Milwaukee until her job contract is up in September. We've been used to the distance, but are looking forward to living in San Diego together later that Month.
