Everyone says that October is not a great time to travel to Costa Rica because it's during the rainy season, but not on the Southern Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica! September and October is the dry season. It's a beautiful part of the country and a nicely kept secret, so hopefully we won't bump into too many tourists. We're looking forward to experiencing the Afro-Caribbean food and culture.

We're making the small town of Puerto Viejo home base and will make small trips along the coast from there. We'll explore Cahuita National Park and Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge. Can't wait to enjoy the beautiful beaches - Punta Uva, Playa Cocles, Salsa Brava and Playa Chiquita. We'll try the local delicacy of rice 'n' beans cooked with coconut milk.

This is the perfect combination of relaxation and adventure. We can enjoy laying on the beach doing nothing and still be able to hike and zip line through the rainforest the next day.
