Hi everyone!
First off, we'd like to say we can't wait to celebrate our wedding with you! Your presence and love are truly the greatest gifts we could ever ask for. The time, effort, and expense of traveling to be with us is something we deeply appreciate in our hearts, and we are so thrilled that we will be able to celebrate this happy occasion with you! We know that Covid-19 is making this wedding season even more challenging and we appreciate each and every sacrifice you've made for us.
Having recently combined our two households, we have been blessed to have a lot of the essential home items a newly engaged couple needs - in fact, we really have what seems like two of everything! Because of this, we've taken a more unique approach to our wedding registry!
While we have taken a few trips together, Covid-19 hindered many of our travel plans in 2020 and 2021. Because it's unknown how travel will still be impacted due to the pandemic though the rest of this year, we've made the difficult decision to postpone our honeymoon to Feburary 2022 (and don't worry, we've purchased travel insurance just in case even early 2022 is too soon and we have to postpone again). We are very much looking forward to our first real adventure as husband and wife, even if it is a few months late!
Again, we can't stress enough that it is your presence on our big day that means the most to us. If you wish to contribute, we hope this registry provides a fun way for you to pick out the perfect experience-based gift. We promise to share photos of each and every adventure we go on (let's be honest, Rebecca will do that anyway) so that you can experience it along with us!
We greatly appreciate and will fondly remember your gifts for years to come. Thanks again and we can't wait to see you at the wedding - or hopefully earlier!
All our love,
Roy and Rebecca
We're going to Australia, New Zealand, & Bora Bora!
We are planning to head to Australia, New Zealand, and Bora Bora for a honeymoon of a lifetime!
We'll start the trip in Sydney, Australia where we'll visit all the major sights over two days (hopefully we're not TOO jet-legged!). Our planned excursions are half-day tours, so we'll have the afternoons and evenings to ourselves to experience local food, get a closer look at our favorite sights, and check out any spur of the moment activities!
Next, we'll fly from Sydney to Cairns which is considered to gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. We'll take a catamaran out to the reef and snorkel while viewing all the tropical fish, coral, turtles, and any other sea-life that will grace us with their presence! The following day we'll venture into the Daintree rainforest to a completely different ecosystem. Cairns will allow us to experience the best of both the land and the sea!
Back on a plane from Cairns to Brisbane where we'll visit the famous Australia Zoo, home of the late Steve Irwin (CRIKEY!)! There, we plan to cuddle koalas, hand-feed kangaroos, as well as seeing the famous crocodile show. Sarah-Kate (Rebecca's sister/maid of honor) has a friend who lives here, so we're looking forward to a true local's recommendation on how to fill the rest of our time with what to do and where to eat!
After Brisbane we will fly over Queenstown, New Zealand! We'll take a full day tour to the Milford Sound, one of the most beautiful sites to see in New Zealand. The tour includes both the long, beautiful drive to get there (and back) as well as a boat tour though the sound itself. The following day we'll increase our adrenalin with Bungy jumping and luging experiences! Don't worry - the Bungy jumping we're doing has had over a million jumps and no deaths, so it's perfectly safe. Jury is still out on if either Roy or Rebecca will back out after facing the jump, but we'd like to think we're brave enough!
We'll fly from Queenstown (the South Island) to Wellington (the North Island) where we'll rent a car. Fun fact: they drive on the left hand side of the road just like England. Neither of us have driven a car on the left/wrong side of the road before, so that in itself will be an adventure! From there we'll visit the Weta workshop where we can see the place where special effects and props are brought to life!
Next we'll drive to Rotorua where we'll visit Hobbiton (obviously a must-see for us nerds), go zorbing (we'll put ourselves in a big plastic ball and get pushed down a hill), and do an underground river tubing experience to see glowworms!
Our last stop in New Zealand will be Auckland. From here we'll do a dolphin and whale safari. They have a 90% success rate with spotting dolphins and a 70% success rate of spotting whales, so our odds are pretty good! We're both hoping to see Orcas, which frequent those waters during this time of year. After that we'll hop on board an official America's Cup sailing yacht and see if we can sail fast enough to be invited onto the next America's Cup team! We'll be able to help the crew or sit back and enjoy the wind in our (or, at least, Rebecca's) hair!
We're pretty sure we'll be exhausted by this point - so our last stop before the long flight home will be to Bora Bora, Tahiti. Here we'll be staying in an over the water bungalow to complete the honeymoon of our dreams! We'll be able to swim right off our balcony, have meals delivered by canoe, and get a massage over a glass floor where we can relax while watching the fish on the reef! On our last night we'll enjoy an upscale meal while watching the sunset from the deck above the Bora Bora lagoon. Manta rays will usually swim by looking for scraps while we're eating!
Not sure how we'll leave this paradise to come back to reality....we'll probably only come back because we miss Penny, Dink, and Doo!
